MCA SERIES AIR-CONDENSED WATER COOLING UNITS

The MCA series of super-silent refrigeration units are monobloc machines with two refrigeration circuits, extremely compact and designed for the cooling of water or glycolated water. All models are designed for outdoor installation under cover and at ground level; refrigeration capacity is based on a cooled water temperature of 7°C on exit from the evaporator and an intake air temperature to the condenser of 35° C.

SPECIFICS

General information
The MCA series are monobloc units fitted with all the necessary coolant tubing and internal wiring for a rapid installation on site. The refrigeration circuits undergo pressure-testing in the factory and are subsequently evacuated and filled with the appropriate operating load of refrigerant and oil. Once the machine is mounted, a further operational test is carried out, involving water flowing through the water-cooling exchanger, to check the airtightness and correct functioning of each refrigeration circuit.

Compressors
Direct drive compressors are used, mounted on rubber shock absorbers. The compressor motors are cooled by suction gas and fitted with built-in thermostatic protection against overloading. This protection mechanism re-sets automatically 8 seconds after the compressor starts up.

Evaporators

Steel plate type, insulated by a cushion of flexible closed-cell foam. Maximum pressures: 10 BAR effective on the water side and 30 BAR effective on the coolant side. Antifreeze resistors and pressure differentials prevent the water freezing. The water side is connected to manifolds requiring a single input and a single output for connection to the system.

Cooling circuit
This consists of two independent circuits, each fitted with: service valve for introducing coolant on the outlet and the liquid sides, sight glass with humidity indicator and thermostatic expansion valve.

Air-cooled condensers
The batteries in these heat exchangers are made of grooved copper tubing mechanically expanded within a finned aluminium unit. Maximum operational pressure on the coolant side of the battery is 28 BAR effective; all the MCA series standard models have fans with continual regulation of rotation speed. Fans are helical and with direct coupling and wing-shaped aluminium blades. Each fan is fitted with safety protection casing in enamelled galvanised steel after construction. Motors are single-phase and completely enclosed, with IP54 protection rating and safety thermostat set in the coil.
